Is the word suicide a mismatch in death with dignity?

Friday, July 27, 2012

Some countries and jurisdictions use the word suicide in the scope of death with dignity, while othersĀ  strongly oppose using this word, because it is linked to concepts as "killing" and has negative connotations.

Alison Lester - a Singapore based writer/blogger and communications skill coach - in her blog contributes to the discussion in a lengthy article about her father's death called "Another word for it" .

Absolutely. The german word FREITOD is much better, and in Norway during my 10 years of participation in the N. BoD for The Right to die w. Dignity I have advocated for a change but without luck.
Freitod - free death! How fascinating that this is how suicide is translated into German. Thanks for this comment, Knut.
