Swiss opinion poll shows great support for assisted death in European countries

Isopublic, a Swiss partner of International Gallup International, executed a study by online interviews in 12 European countries into the view of Europeans on assisted suicide. In every country 1000 interviews were held, resulting in an interesting strong majority of support. The study was executed in the corresponding language of each country.

Author Terry Pratchett's investigation into assisted suicide and a satirical look at technology have won an International Emmy award in the documentary category. Pratchett's Choosing To Die, followed the author, who after his Alzheimer's diagnosis, travelled to Swiss clinic Dignitas for a first-hand look at assisted suicide methods.

Massachusetts ballot on assisted dying narrowly defeated

A divisive ballot initiative that would allow terminally ill patients to end their lives with medication prescribed by physicians was narrowly defeated. The Death with Dignity Campaign conceded this morning, as unofficial results tallied by the Associated Press showed that, with 95 percent of precincts reporting, 51 percent of voters had opposed the measure, compared with 49 percent in favor.
